Realty Vision was created with the ideals of freeing multiple listing services from the shackles of having to endlessly lease obsolete and expensive software with long term contracts. Realty Vision software, including optional source code, may be licensed and owned outright at a fraction of what other similar software would cost over many years of leasing. Even small groups of brokers who could not afford other obsolete and expensive software in the past, (and ironicly maybe luckily so), can now set up and operate very efficient multiple listing exchange services using Realty Vision.
We all know that bigger and more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better, and this is especially true with software. The days when computers cost hundred thousands of dollars and required large air-conditioned rooms are long gone. The days when there were only a handful of programmers, laboriously developing software using difficult programming languages are long gone. The days when software could only aspire to sell just a few copies to only a small elite group of users are long gone. Today, a small group of bright programmers can develop excellent software using nothing more than inexpensive personal computers, like the one on your own desk. Today, software development is much faster and less costly, utilising easier and more advanced programming tools and techniques. Clearly, today's software should do much more and should cost much less than it did in the past.
Sharing expensive mainframes with cheaper terminals might have made sense in the past, but not today, when each personal computer has more computing power and storage capacity than the mainframes of the past. Yet, most multiple listing systems still operate at their lowest denominator level of obsolete dumb-terminals and try offering more up-to-date features by awkwardly patching decades-old software. Unfortunately, many multiple listing associations find security in well known vendors with "established" products and their exorbitant maintenance contracts, not realizing that talking of computer software, having been around for long time may indeed mean lagging behind times and that good software should not require much maintenance. Fortunately all things change.
Realty Vision brings a radically new approach to information sharing, rightfully placing the emphasis back on the broker offices while minimizing the role, size and cost of central multiple listing offices.
